Dr Lloyd George Barnett

Lloyd George Barnett was born on March 6, 1932. He was educated at Calabar High School, Kingston, Jamaica and the University of London and holds the degrees of Bachelor of Arts (1954), Bachelor of Laws (1957), Master of Laws (1960) and Doctor of Philosophy (1966). He is a member of the Honourable Society of Lincoln’s Inn and he was called to the Bar of England and Wales and of Jamaica in 1960. Read more...

Dr Peter D. Maynard

Dr. Maynard is a past President of OCCBA and also a past President of the Bahamas Bar Association. He is the senior attorney in the law firm of Peter D. Maynard & Co. In 1974 he was an Economist at the United Nations, New York, and later a Guest Scholar at the Brookings Institution, Washington D.C., an economics think tank. He is presently Contributing Editor for The Company Lawyer, Journal of Financial Crime, Journal of Money of Money Laundering Control and Amicus Curiae of the United Kingdom and also Caribbean Law and Business. He is also Adjunct Professor, Union Institute, Cincinnati, Ohio Chairman of the Advisory Council of the Bahamas Human Resources Development Association and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Nassau Public Library. Desiree Patrica Bernard

Desiree Patrica Bernard was appointed as the first female Judge of the High Court of Guyana. Awarded the Cacique Crown of Honour, the third highest national award in 1985. Appointed first female Justice of Appeal in the Court of Appeal of the Supreme Court of Guyana in May 1992 and was then appointed first female Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Guyana in October 1996. In May 2001 she was appointed first female Chancellor of the Judiciary of Guyana.
